If you need out-of-hours advice or to be seen by a doctor, dial 111. This is a freephone number. Calling the normal surgery number will advise you to hang up and dial 111 but you will be charged for your call to the surgery.

North Kirklees Walk-in Centre

You can see a nurse practitioner for treatment or diagnosis of minor injuries and illnesses. (No children under 2 years please) Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00 at the Walk-in-Centre, Dewsbury District Hospital, Halifax Road, or The Old Schoolhouse Surgery at Dewsbury Health Centre. You do not need an appointment.

Your Local Pharmacist

Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice at any time and you don’t need an appointment. The pharmacy holds a healthy living clinic once a week (details available from the pharmacy).They also provides an order/collect/delivery service for repeat prescriptions. Many pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis, call NHS Direct for details.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
